PODKOVÁŇ BREWERY (LITERALLY TRANSLATES AS A HORSESHOE) HAS BEEN BREWING BEER USING TRADITIONAL METHODS FOR OVER 600 YEARS SINCE ITS ESTABLISHMENT BY MONKS IN 1434.
The secret to Podkováň’s exceptional beer lies in its own natural 300-meter underground spring, which has been carefully maintained over the years to provide the highest quality water for the brewing process. The spring water is not filtered or chemically altered. The water is categorised as “children’s water” with the highest quality status.
The brewery prides itself on its open bath preparation technique, which has been passed down through generations of brewers, giving Podkovan’s beer its unique and authentic Czech flavor.
Located in the Central Bohemia region of the Czech Republic, Podkováň brewery is situated in a picturesque valley surrounded by natural beauty. Podkováň brewery is situated just 60 km outside of Prague, close to the renowned hometown of Škoda vehicles, MladaBoleslav.
The brewery sits on 5 hectares of land, of which 2 hectares are dedicated to the production facility. Podkovan has a historical production capacity of 300,000 hectoliters per year, equivalent to 30 million liters of quality beer.
The brewery’s main source of water is a unique 300-meter underground spring, which is classified as children’s water. In fact, only four springs in the Czech Republic have been granted this prestigious status.
The brewery focuses on producing lager beer using the traditional open bath method, which allows the beer to undergo natural processes in cold temperatures, taking approximately 40 days to produce.
As of 2023, Podkovan is investing heavily in technological upgrades to modernise its facilities. To meet various market demands, the brewery offers beer in aluminum cans, PET bottles, kegs, and petainers.
Under the guidance of its head brewer, Mr. Červený, the brewery has maintained its commitment to traditional brewing methods while also embracing technological advancements to improve the brewing process.
Mr. Červený ‘s contributions have been instrumental in establishing Podkováň as a premier Czech heritage brewery, and his dedication to the craft ensures that the brewery’s legacy will continue for years to come.

CLASSIC LAGER
A CLASSIC LIGHT LAGER CZECH BEER WITH 4.8% ABV IS A CRISP AND REFRESHING BEER THAT IS PERFECT FOR ANY OCCASION. THIS BEER IS KNOWN FOR ITS LIGHT, GOLDEN COLOR AND ITS CLEAN, SMOOTH TASTE. THE AROMA IS SUBTLE, WITH NOTES OF MALT AND A SLIGHT HINT OF HOPS.
